Addresses a few concerns brought up here recently:
-CAP at airshows
-CAP switching to 406 ELTs (Have 200+ with them now -- a lot more than I had thought).  Updated frequencies to be put in Beckers.  I see several quotes from our own DNALL!
-bad news -- they may be starting a trend of having columns by various national staff members -- its safety this time -- these were the absolute worst, most useless parts of the old CAP News.
-Several hurricane Ike stories
-story about induction into CAP Hall of Honor -- also has a listing of past inductees -- looks like you have to at least be a Col. to get in (1 exception for a Lt. Col.)
-Big Mary Feik story -- didn't we just have one of those?

Im impressed, good issue! :)

That's a poorly photoshopped cover on the Lt Col on the front cover.

Boy you aint kiddin'.  That thing looks like they used MS Paint to put it on her head.

SJFedor

I mean, it just kinda jumped out and screamed at me, cuz it made her whole head look twice the normal size.

Were you on staff for that encampment? Do you have carnal detailed knowledge that their Encampment commander and/or Wing commander didn't get NHQ approval for the use of special headgear for the purpose of that encampment IAW CAPR 39-1?

Didn't think so. You shouldn't make assumptions.

DNall

Special insignia for encampments is specifically not allowed, there's no provision to get permission otherwise. There is provision for wing supplements to apply all the time, not just during an event, and those have to be approved at the CAP/CC & NHQ levels.

I would say... here's the original... and they took the GTL badge off the WRONG side of the uniform.

I was playing the "what uniform problems are in this issue" game and found a few, that photoshopped cover was reaaaly bad.

Rangercap

They REALLY fixed her uniform... they even added the 1/2" between the CAP tape, med badge and wings... and moved the ES patch.

And the excessive blue boarder and crooked sewing job on the silver leaves does not help either.

Parallel means only one thing.  ;)

They really need to just not use photos of uni's that are not up to snuff rather than attempt to fix. Makes a bad image worse.

It's authorized... he's at encampment. Outside of an activity - it's a no no.

Rank is only to be worn on the BDU and Blue BDU caps. Not a black one.

I guess this goes back to what the NEC authorized - but no formal written change. Rank can be worn on headgear (i.e. baseball cap), at an activity - this can be authorized by the Wing Commander.

Where is that written? NEC minutes only authorize NHQ to make a change. They do not in and of themselves make the change.
