Cool beans.  Tell us about it when you can...  I've got 12 days left till I leave for BMT.   8)

And that sucks that you were anxious to get back to captalk.  I'm going to be anxious to get to a beer and a cheeseburger.   ;)

The gas chamber stinks majorly, and don't let the Drill sergeants get you down.  They only seem to hate your guts.  Expect to get smoked at some point, even if you everything perfect- they'll say its not.  It's free PT.
It goes by fast, at times and can drag as well.

Smash the people who do not want to conform.  They'll get you smoked all the time.  Our Platoon was pretty good.  We only got smoked six times. 1st Platoon got smoked about 3 or 4 times a week.  Keep your head on you and you will do fine.

Be aware of information.  They will give you wrong info, and you have to adapt quickly.  Also be warned that the plans you were given 5 minutes ago may not be the same ones when you get in Formation.

ALWAYS SECURE YOUR GEAR!!!

One time the DS's came in and dumped all the lockers that weren't secured.  Another time, the open lockers had different locks placed on them.

Always be in formation at least 5 min before you are told to.  There will always be the slow one, or the one who forgets an item.  You do not want to be doing "Hurry up!!  Waiting on you!!" push-ups for as long as it takes them to get what they need, or to get where they need to.

Make that a 2 inch steak & a couple ten beers. That first beer on pass was freakin glorious.

We got smoked solid the whole time. It's more about the DSs than anything you do. It wasn't hard. After a couple weeks you don't care if you're getting smoked or not. It's just "free PT, hua" - man that phrase brings back some memories. Got some more of those this summer too.

Congrats & welcome back!!!

Right on!  Congrats and weclome back, sir!

I might be away for a while at AIT, but I might get computer privileges.  I don't know.

I can not have any alcohol until I leave Ft. Sill.  Most likely until I reach Ft L. Wood.  Oh well.

I have to say that I really did enjoy most parts of BCT.

If you don't mind me asking, sir - what's your MOS supposed to be?

Jaybird...you're going to AF BMT.  While I was at Lackland last month, I saw basic trainees hanging out at BK during their 3rd week.  Seriously, and it wasn't a freak accident.  Come to find out it's pretty normal for them to have down time and go to the mini BX and eat fast food.

You know I'll be there with my whopper in hand then.  Too bad we couldn't have a designated driver to the river walk...

Nor do I. Of course, I was only at BMT for ten days.

I went to Army BCT (basic combat training) in 1991 and we called it "BCT" then, not sure what they called it when you went through.

Hate to break it to you, but when I was at Ft Sill not too long ago, I saw Basic Trainee's and 13 series soldiers eating at BK, Anthony's Pizza, and what not.

In fact, I just heard that Fort Sam Houston no longer allows the Drill Sergeant Hat to be worn by Drill Sergeants.  Cannot really disagree with that statement since I have not seen one here at Fort Sam and I am only right up the hill from them.  Supposedly, they now consider it too intimidating.
