Ok, so i am a somewhat new cadet (6-7 months) and have been trying to get qualified for GTM. I have completed GES 1000 as well as ICUT. My squadron commander isn't the clearest when it comes to telling me what qualifications I need. So I was wondering if you guys could help me out with what other qualifications i need please.

Log in with your CAPID and eServices password and then select the qualification from the drop down box.

So once i complete all of the "Familiarization and prepatory training" i will be qualified? Or do i have to complete the advanced training as well?
Thank you for your help.

Fam/Prep allows you to begin working on the rest of the requirements. Once the WHOLE page is filled in, you're good to go, pending approval.

Completing the Fam/Prep and getting the required approval from your unit commander (or designee) will make you officially a Trainee. As a Trainee, you can participate in SAREXs (Search And Rescue EXercises) and receive credit for doing so. Participating in two missions as a trainee is one requirement to earning your qualification.

Alright thanks for your help.

Make sure that you know how to print and view your 101 card. You will be good to participate once you see *GTM-3 on your card. (The "*" means you are in trainee status). If you still have questions, please let me know.

Alright thank you for your help. My squadron commander says that certain things have to be done by some kind of an ES instructor, so he has to set up a date and get him to our squadron. Is there anything else i can do before that? Thanks again.

In addition to the fema courses, order a copy of the GTM task guide from Vanguard (green book). Download the reference text http://static1.squarespace.com/static/52f294c6e4b0bede38b4d35c/t/5328c05be4b091b8426afc2b/1395179611175/GTRT.pdf and begin familiarizing yourself with all of the tasks required for GTM3.

Ok thank you I will be sure to order that Sir. Also just to make sure it is the green book titled "ground and Urban Finding Team Tasks", not the yellow one titled "General Emergency Services Tasks"?
The link you provide Sir is that a separate book from the task guide? As it says "Reference Text" I assume so. I am just wondering on account of i can't stand to read on the computer if i don't have to, and would prefer to print it out.
Thank You for your help Sir.

Yes the green Ground and Urban DF Team Tasks book. The book itself is on the required packing list, and contains all of the tasks for each of the GTM qualifications. Look up the GTM3 SQTR (Eservices>Ops Quals>Print SQTR then select GTM3 from the drop down), it will list all of the GTM3 tasks that you will need to perform. Find and mark them in the green book.

The reference text will have info to read up on for the tasks. When you get a task signed off, mark the date in the green book for your reference.

Also in the LMS on Eservices, make sure to take CAP Test 116, General ES Questionnaire, and then CAPT 117 as both will be required for GTM3, along with the FEMA courses that Eclipse posted.

And when you're done with FEMA, you need to upload the certificate to Ops Quals and submit the tasks for approval.

Knock out the online ICS classes:

IS-100 is available online at:http://training.fema.gov/emiweb/is/is100b.asp
IS-200 is available online at:http://training.fema.gov/emiweb/is/is200b.asp
IS-700 is available online at:http://training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/is700a.asp
IS-800 is available online at:http://training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/IS800b.asp

http://www.capmembers.com/emergency_services/operations_support/national-incident-management-system-nims/

IS-200 and IS-800 are not required for any GTM qualification. If I recall correctly, the only qualification that requires Is-200 and IS-800 and doesn't require a cadet to be at least 18 years old is CUL.

Capt Thompson

Sorry, to get to the SQTR it should be Eservices>My Ops Quals>Entry/View Worksheet then select GTM3 from the drop down and it will give you all of the required tasks, tests, fema classes etc.

I highlight each of the required tasks in my green book, then write the dates next to them as they are signed off. When you go for GTM2, highlight those tasks in another color and continue on.

No argument there, but also not a reason not to take them - good info and will be potentially needed at some point.

Also ICUT is required for GTM3 - Eservices>LMS>Communitations>ICUT

You'll need a First Aid class as well. Not CPR, not AED, Basic First Aid.

Capt Thompson

Another thing to consider, does your Wing have any type of SAR Academy you can attend? As a Cadet, I was at a Squadron that didn't have any ES Personnel. Our Cadet Commander was a GTL and a graduate of HMRS, but was only there long enough to give me the ES bug, and then left for the Air Force. Getting my quals on my own without unit help took me a long time to do, as enough classes for more than 30 tasks won't be done in a meeting or two at another unit. Our Wing has a SAR Academy each summer though, that covers all of the tasks, First Aid, and 2 practice missions, including a 3 day FTX, and all graduates are GTM3 qualified. Then the following year you can do the advanced course and work toward GTM2, GTM1 or GTL. It would be a whole lot easier doing a week long Wing training or attending an NCSA, than making 20 trips to another unit, plus seeking out a First Aid class.

Thanks for all of your replies, I have completed a first-aid class as well as ICUT, I will be sure to order the green book as soon as i can, i saw that the GTM handbook was on the list but wasn't sure what it was. I will look into an ES academy it sounds like it would be a great deal, i haven't heard of one around here but there may be one in Fort Worth, Texas, (I'm in central OK). I started working on IS-100, and IS-700 (Which are the only 2 required).

And what is the difference between GTM3, GTM2, GTM1. Just more responsibility and privileges? Also how much of my individual equipment should i prepare? I have most of my 24-hour equipment, but i'm not sure if i should have a 72-hour bag also?
Wow that's alot of questions didn't realize i had so many thanks for your help.
