Indicates that 85 CAP personnel were killed during the WW II era performing missions.

Does anyone know if there's a Memorial anywhere relating to these members (and others after WW II) that died while performing a CAP authorized mission ???

NHQ supposedly was working on a national memorial for all CAP members.  Its really starting to upset me that only CAP members that died in WWII are ever mentioned when in fact more have died since then.

There is one here on Nellis for a member who died on a mission in the 60's or 70's.

I didn't even know about the one at Arlington!

However, I think there are a couple of markers at former Coastal Patrol bases (?).

Where's it going to be?  On the grounds of Maxwell somewhere?  A better place would be at the Air Force Museum, with all the memorials outside in that garden-type setting.

There's a memorial dedication mark at Arlington National Cemetery.

Each year for Wreath's Across America, CAP members also stop there as well.

I, personally, know of five members of Sq 80, San Jose , Ca who were killed on AF-assigned missions.  As far as I know, there is no memorial dedicated to them.

Where did you get 85. I thought the number was 64 with at least one of them being a cadet killed getting an orientation flight at an airshow?

There used to be a memorial plaque at Wing Headquarters that listed them, and all of the other CAWG members who have died while performing their CAP duties.
And I know for a fact that there is a memorial to them at Sq 80's headquarters.

Phil: I know about the plaque at Sq 80: in fact, there are two, since there were two crashes.  I was the Sq Deputy Commander when one of the crashes occured and organized their memorial service.  I was referring to a National Memorial.  I knew all five guys, most of them quite well.  I had flown with all five, some many times.

No clue.  Seem to recall seeing some pictures of some large glass pieces that were supposed to be part of it.  Might find something in the history threads (probably where this thread should be BTW)

Please see attached info about CAP Memorial Dedicated to ALL those who have died in the line of Duty. The funds were raised by CAP members and the item dedicated to them in 2006 at the NB in Atlanta.

There was a plaque dedicated to Coastal Patrol 18 in Falmouth, Mass.

Jim: thanks for showing this to all of us.  I seemed to remember that such a memorial had been produced, but gray hair and fading memory plays unfair tricks.  Not too many CAP members ever get to Maxwell, so it will go largely unnoticed and forgotten.

On to a uniform thread, folks.

The memorial is not on display at the moment. After the 2006 Display at the NB it was put away during the revamp of NHQ. They do not have a place for it now. We had hoped to find a home central such as NHQ for display, we havent had any luck. It is spit between two locations right now. The glass is with me (safely packed) and the metal framing is with Lt Col Todd Engelman in Dayton OH. We are still actively looking for a place to install so we can honor our fallen members. Initially we thought this was going to be NHQ but they havent had much luck either finding a home.

Since the framing is is Dayton, how about the Air Force Museum?  Being a museum, access and security shouldn't be a problem.
