As we know (or at least as many of us know), National people watch CAPTalk, so perhaps this would get somewhere too.

What improvements/changes would you make to e-Services?

I have some ideas.  I will post after I put them together.

I think that e-Services has come a long way and it has some really nice tools.  I'm very happy to see some of the work that they've done.  I would like to see a number of improvements and I think that we need a member survey and field study to see how it's being used, what we can improve, etc.

One improvement for ORMS:

Auto fill the Unit field with the member's home unit. Folks with higher level access will still need to pull down the unit if they are not working with their home unit, such as wing staff.

Forget additions. Improve the consistency of the UI.

Seems pretty consistent to me...

For CAP Materials...  Allow PAO's access to more than the (quality very questionable) Cadet and Senior Member quarter-sheet recruiting materials...  I have to go through my squadron CC to order certificates of appreciation and other stuff, which comes in handy during presentations to external groups...  It's so much of a hassle to do that...  People and groups who should be getting them aren't...

It would be nice to optimize eServices for mobile browsers. And an option to output reports to HTML in addition to Microsoft or PDF.

Overall I think eServices is really nice. I would actually like to see more effort into making WMIRS not so icky. Every time I a scrollable DIV inside a FRAME, I sigh.

Provide an authentication web service to eServices.

That way wing/unit websites could let people have one login (eServices) and still secure their content.  Now you have to set up your own, which means everyone has ANOTHER login id and password to remember...

I have an eServices related question. How long can you stay logged in to eServices without it timing out on you?
The other day I was taking a test and when I pressed submit,  then finish, I was sent to the log- in page. I was only logged in for about 45 minutes.
With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right...

Well, you have 30 minutes to take the test ... so ...

As for timing out, it's inactivity that will get you. I've used it for as long as 2 hours straight.

I know, eeew.

First off, I think eServices has come a really long way already from the MIMS days, and for that I'm thankful. It would be nice if they went through the older modules and update the UI to be the same as the current one, and it'd be nice if they put all of the tests, such as CAPT 116 and 117, into the new testing system instead of having two systems, but these things are fine for now. I think we would all like to see eServices become more of a total member portal tracking everything that could be in a member personnel file.

The one thing I've been thinking of lately that would be nice, and maybe it's dumb, I don't know, is an internal messaging component. This would come in especially useful when you are reviewing a promotion, award, or specialty qual where you can ask for more supporting info/documentation, and then the request and documentation become a part of the record. It could also eliminate the hassle of email lists where you have half the people responding to all to remove them. Those who want to know go in eServices and look, those who don't want to know or don't care can easily ignore it.
If you are confident in you abilities and experience, whether someone else is impressed is irrelevant. - Eclipse

In OpsQuals, I would like the ability to pull reports on people in my squadron who don't have a particular rating.  Its just as important to know who has training as it is to know who still needs it.  As it is, if I want to see who needs training for a particular rating I have to pull the list of rated folks and then manually cross them off a squadron roster.

The Tasks Remaining report will do that but it's kind of long.

Is there a way to pull a list of people that DO have a particular rating?

A recommended change I'd make to eServices is to make the member record more comprehensive making paper personnel records obsolete.  Include a Participation log so that an ESO, Squadron commander and the like can document membership participation other than meetings.

Um..Could you be a little more specific...like which menu under which option?  I can't seem to find anything that allows me to pull up a list of a group for example ground team members.  Is this a restricted application and that could be why I don't see it.

Exactly, I'd like a list of those who are trainee/rated, and those who aren't.

The "Specific Qualification Listing" option under Reports in OpsQuals is what you seek.

I would like to see an online CAPF 24, CAPF 120 and CAPF 2a (ribbons section).  I would also like to see an attendance type application that could be used to track activeness as well as attendance at conferences and such (which would nicely lead in to the CAPF 24)
