Hi,

are there cadets on national or wing or region staff?

Eclipse

Probably, but its generally not a good idea.

If they are, hopefully they are Spaatz cadets.

I have personally seen cadets on wing staff.  I believe it is a good business to have your phase 4 cadets assisting in key wing areas if they are interested.  It breathes some life into the SDAs they complete.

Are they assigned there, or assisting as additional duty?

Having cadets assigned to XX-001 is a problem, because few wings meet on a weekly basis in the way cadet need to progress.

No PT, no flights, no other cadets.  Just paperwork and boredom.

I cannot imagine a cadet that would want to be assigned completely to wing, for the reasons you stated. All the ones I have known of that worked on wing staff did it as an additional duty assignment.

I know of one who was a three diamond and she was only marking time until her 21st birthday and she's now the wing admin officer as a senior Capt. She was national cadet of the year 2009.

Once you're "done" with the CP, its a different dynamic, though one would like to think are Spaatzen are
giving back through leadership at units and large activities.

Of course there are cadets on wing, region and national staff.  They are the respective chairs of the CAC  :D .  However, there are no cadets assigned to the "NHQ-999" squadron (the national commander's squadron).  There may be some cadets assigned to region or wing HQ units but, I don't know of any.

Yes there are cadets on wing staff. I am one of them. It is much more than boredom and paperwork. It is a great opportunity to explore the different aspects of the program that are available to you once you become a senior member. Having been cadet commander of 3 different squadrons I became bored at the squadron level and had it not been for the opportunity to serve on wing staff I probably would have quit. I have been able to try public affairs, cadet programs and aerospace education and some aspects of safety as a member of wing staff that I would not have been able to do in a squadron. If you are given the chance to serve on wing staff my recommendation would be to accept it and embrace it. Just my opinion.

Yes, we have one cadet on Wing staff assinged to 001. he is a Spaatz and works in CP. he doesnt attend regularly but whenever we need him. He is a colege student so I try not to bother him . I want him to be focused on college.
