Anyone have a good template or or link on how to do the best write up for a Form 120? Specific it is for a Bronze Medal of Valor.

Tom.

Just write up the facts in a narrative fashion.

Suggest about 5-6 lines

On 12 November 2009 Major Eatsalot O. Donuts, Homer J. Simpson Composite Squadron, Nevada Wing, distinguished himself when responding to a [insert incudient type].  With no regard for his own safety he did this, that, and the there.  He was able to stop global warming, saved the whales and stopped international communism.  The actions of Major Donuts bring great credit upon himself and the Civil Air Patrol.

If it can wait until this week end I can send you some USAF formats that I have at home.

When writting the citation, describe in detail what the person did, the effect it had, and if applicable numbers involved. DO not say he has been a member for X number of years (tahts covered by the Red service Ribbon), do not say he has completed Level 10 of the Senior or Cadet program-not applicable). If the award is for heroism, enclose any newsarticles or witness statements that are available.

USE VERBs-NOT ADJECTIVES!!!

After completing the citation have someone else read it, make suggestions, and edit.

Not specific to a CAPF 120, but similar enough in intent and subject matter:

There are citations on the CAPTalk website. Do a search and you can look at the writeups for them. It may be helpful.

If that guy does all that stuff, he shouldn't be up for the Bronze Medal of Valor. We should be looking at a Nobel Prize.

(Wait... the Nobel is usually given to the guy who propagates communism, fascism or something else anti-American...)

OK, how about a Congressional Medal of Freedom?

Can we keep our snarky, dumb-ass responses to ourselves?

^ Actually the Nobel awards (and there are different categories) have been given to fascist and communists in the past.  Google it.  The awards have also been given to a few members of royal families.  Kings and Queens= dictators, just with a nicer sounding title.

Plus, the Tongue and Quill is (at least used to be) downloadable on the CAP national web site.  It's a great reference.
