Hello All!  I have a question for you, and I have no idea where to look or who to ask for an answer.  In a recent CAP email announcing the filling WING positions being filled, I noticed that one of those positions was accepted by a Cadet.  This Cadet is over 18 years of age and holds the position of Cadet 1LT.  However this person is still a Cadet.

My question is this:  Can a "Cadet" hold a WING officer position?

Where would I be able to find the answer to this question?

Thanks!

Which position?

There are provisions for cadets to fill certain assistant roles but none that I'm aware of that would allow primary assignment.

Is that important?

Would help point you to the appropriate publication, to start.

Eclipse

It depends on the specific position.

A cadet cannot be the "Officer of Record" for any staff positions, however they may serve as assistants.

And there is nothing specifically stating they cannot be an assistant for ES.

Reference for Eclipse above is

Outstanding replies, thanks so much!

I would have spent hours trying to find that answer!

Eclipse sums it up pretty well here.

WIWAC, I was ADY as a member of the Wing Communications staff and later as a member of the Wing ES staff, so yes, it is possible.

Knowledgebase gives you a regulation cite when available and when not available, it gives you the opinion of the national hq staff officer for that subject area.  When given a reg cite, always check to make sure it is the current version and there are no ICLs.   It will work as an answer for the majority of your questions.  Besides, it is much better to say that "knowledgebase says that ...." instead of "an anonymous person on CAPTALK said to do it this way..."   ;)
