I am new member (6 months). I had a 2 week course while in the Navy called  Leadership and Management Education and Training (LMET), back in the 1980's. Is there a chance I could get some sort of credit for that? If so, who do I contact?

Thanks

If that course qualifies as an equivalent to an NCO Academy, then it could be considered in lieu of what is now being referred to as the "Officer's Basic Course" (OBC) which is needed for Level II the Professional Development Program.

See CAPR 50-17 for details.

Your Commander or PDO would need to submit proof of completion of that class to NHQ for consideration.  As you do not need this credit for at least two years there's no fire drill on it, and as a new member, I would imagine most of us here would strongly recommend you sign up for the OBC.

The person to discuss this with is your Commander or PDO.

Yes, it will substitute for ECI-13  use code Z and attach a copy of your DD214 and send a waiver request to NHQ.  You must have completed it within 20 years prior to your join date (I made it just under the wire).

Actually, they dropped the 20 year limit. I think it was at the Feb 2009 NB.

Send a copy of your training certificate, or DD214 to prodev@capnhq.gov.  Tell them you're looking for equivelant training credit.  Credits are based on the course attended, and when it was attended since course content may change over the years.  I received credit for ECI-13 and regional staff college; a SMSgt in my squadron received credits up through national staff college.

When did it change? I was denied credit for my LMET while I was still on active duty (1987).
