QuoteCAP is  moving away from the "U.S. Air Force Axillary" label to the corporate non profit identity
An unsubstantiated premise.

Then please explain to me why CAP is removing the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary and other U.S. designations from it patches, letterhead, and other visible items such as removing the auxiliary designation off of CAP aircraft.  Why does the National Commander send out documents no longer stating CAP as the auxiliary, but instead places emphasis on CAP as a "nonprofit organization?"

Our Wing's legal officer required the removal of the auxiliary information off our squadron's 2009/2010 CFC application when in the past years it was permissible.

Two reasons:

1) A misunderstanding or gross oversimplification of the application of Posse Commitatus during our operations.

B) An effort to better position CAP as a non-profit with benefactors in our fund-raising efforts.

3) A schizophrenic internal and external identity crisis because of 1 and B.

Until the Congressional charter or bylaws change, what it says on our insignia or aircraft tails is irrelevant to our mission, and nothing has changed in that regard in the last 10+ years.

Almost all of that stuff was added in recent years, often to much derision by many CAP members, so its not like it was tradition like the US collar pins on the AF-style service uniform.

Eclipse's reason 1 was actually given in official sources as the reason for the aircraft markings.
