Does anybody have intel on the 2009 Northeast Region (NER) Conference?

The conference has typically been in the September - November timeframe.  Last year's was held in October.  But no information has been released yet, which is odd.  The page for the region conference (http://ner.cap.gov/conference ) still shows last year's information.Another CAP member mentioned to me she heard unconfirmed RUMINT that NER Conference 2009 was canceled.  I have heard nothing else.

It would be a shame if the region were unable to host a region conference this year.  I've been to several and have enjoyed some of the sessions as well as the social aspect.

I can check with my group cc and find out what the deal is.  He has a lot of contact with the region.  Just give me a few days.

Actually, the Oct 2008 NER conf. was "this year's" conference (Oct 1 starts our FY).  I have heard nothing about a conference for FY 2010.
Of course the Region Commander was only in office a short time.  Maybe we'll hear something soon.  ;D

My info is that Col Diduch (now former NER CC) did not intend to hold region conference this calendar year.

We'll have to wait and see, but it seems likely Col Hayden will want to have one in 2010; it seems unlikely a region would go two years without one.

I think every 2 to 3 years would be just about right.  Functional areas could have their own mini conferences every year or so.   Basically whether it's a wing or regional conference it's basically an expensive proposition (both time wise, travel costs, & loding/food costs) and much of what is presented could easily be done via an internet broadcast with a instant messenger type link to ask questions by the electronic attendees.  That's the trend in business now to keep costs down.  Hopefully CAP won't cling to the past and will move forward.  Actually, with electronics you could have more frequent "electronic" conferences/meeting by functional areas.

FWIW, PCR has its conferences in the even numbered years.
