Got to wonder where NY Wing Long Island Group CAP's Homeland Security Cessna 182, glass cockpits, with the new minature air/air rockets & machine guns were during this time ??? ;D

In a way doesn't it sadly show us  how even with all the money that has been spent on all the homeland security/defense issues (radio equipment, sensors, training, aircraft etc, etc, etc), how easy it was with some guy with a homemade aircraft to flying where he wasn't suppose to go :-[ >:(

We were scrambled and located the target. We locked on with good tone, but we were not cleared weapons free, so we turned it over to the NYPD and called it a day. They handle all our light work.

Can someone tell me why "cop-ter" is hyphenated? Some sort of "pig" joke maybe?

DG

Retired Navy pilot?

Can we make any conclusions or draw any inferences here about training or the lack thereof?

SarDragon

Cop-ter = a play on words, referring to a cop helicopter.

Regarding the Navy pilot thing, guess he was thinking that, in the absence of a landing area on the top of a grey floaty thing, he ought to look for something more like an 8000' x 150' military runway.

One can only wonder.

Well, not exactly. But there are well paid civilian folks who drive the boats in some harbors, due to the close quarters. These folks are, interestingly enough, called harbor pilots.

So there!  :P
