As a CAP historian, amateur patch collector and sometime Disney buff, I'm curious as to how many CAP patches bear Disney motifs. So far, here's my list, with links. (Tip of the hat to Major Browning)
Pre-WWII:

Oklahoma Wing (unadopted):
(No links- but I did see the art on display at National Convention last year...)
Coastal Patrol Base 18:

Coastal Patrol Base 22:

CAP ES "Bird Dog" Patch*:

(This doesn't include the numerous patches based on this one, including the Sahara Hotel one.)
Unknown:
Westchester (NY) (cadets):

Possible (unknown):
Montgomery Wing (MD) Senior Patch:

* Can someone tell me if this is Disney-based or not?
** Same here...

Are there any other Disney-based CAP patches that you know of, official or otherwise?
(In regards to legal stuff, I'm not sure exactly what Disney's position on the patches is. They did approve of the original sales, but things may have changed since then. (In fairness, Disney has been willing to use their characters for nonprofit purposes, unlike some other corporations.)) I may contact the head Disney archivist for any information he might have, and possibly offer to provide him information as well.

Oh, in case you are wondering, I'm not named for the albatross...

;) Thanks and you are welcome!

The "Toons at War" blog that you mentioned is old, but pretty good reading. It's truely incredible how much art and resources was donated by Disney Studios during the war. Along with the many films (animated and live action) and publications, it was how they did "their part". That was ALL Walt, and I doubt we'd ever see that much generosity from them now.

I wish I knew more about "RKO Studios" - a venture/subsidiary of Disney Pictures - that did a lot of CAP emblem art. Much more than was actually used. Col Schell said he learned a bunch of their background and afiliation with CAP, but didn't get that information written down before his death.

The "HOT" patch designs came directly from Disney artists like Potter, Kelly, and Justice. They were the artists that also did work on the studio's most famous animated shorts or feature films like Snow White.

Please do share if you find out any details from your research!

I can tell you that the IL ES patch is authentic Disney.

I get a picture of the letter next time I'm at Wing Hq.

I know there is some reference to Mr. Disney himself but I don't recall if he just signed the paper or drew this one.
