this is a good system for what it is, but it appears that the system relies on a department's existing alerting/paging system.

If you want to rely upon their mass e-mail or text message system I would look around because there are several of those types of services available which may be cheaper, or free.

Finally CAP may not want everyone to respond.  with only 2-4 slots in a 182 you dont really need 3 pilots and 6 observers letting you know that they are in route

Just my thoughts

The phone seems to work just fine every time I have to mobilize teams for a mission....

my fire company uses it, too.  We only use it for response display, though.  We don't use it to send out any messages.  We use CodeMessaging.net for that.

Most areas can do fine with just using the phone for CAP missions.  There aren't enough missions a year to justify the cost of a pager system. My wing stopped using pagers 8 years ago.  A simple phone call from the IC to the GTL gets the ball rolling. We don't have massive missions all day long where we need more than a handful of people.

I agree, I can't see a great use for such a large scale system, especially in a smaller Wing such as Nebraska where the missions are usually fairly small, and the ones that aren't, we're always able to call people on the telephone.

yea after i thought about it i realized its a little too large scale type system for our use (my unit NY292 only has 2 gtl and like 3 gtm3

A phone call is simple enough and really doesn't require anyone to pay extra.
