Cartel Hit Squad arrested

As I pointed out in my previous thread, here are some of the latest developments in the increasing violence on the southern border. A border that we, as CAP members patrol. View the photo in Full Size and look at the weapons, armor, and the people involved. Specifically, the two on the far left. None of would have pegged those two for "assassins." Additionally the "Hit Squad" came dressed as police officers.

Keep in mind what these cartels are battling over. Not only turf in Mexico, but more importantly, they are fighting over who controls the access routes into the Southern United States. Again, keep in mind who you are talking to, where you are, and specifically if anyone asks you any questions about what you are doing. Keep your mouths shut and your eyes and ears open. For those of you wearing your "Counter Narcotics Flight Crew Patches" Put them in a shadow box.

One note, where they mention Joaquin "Shorty" Guzman. The article downplays it some calling him the leader of a "gang". Guzman is the first reported drug dealer to ever reach Billionaire status.

Thanks for the update. We need to take back our borders, and stop the influx of drugs and illegals. Don't matter if it is Mexico or Canada.

I'm not sure, but if I remember correctly, Harmon when you went to NBB in 97, you wanted to help set up a "hit squad".

I guess I need sleep too, because I originally saw the title of the thread yesterday and thought it was odd. Still today I thought I saw "Cadet Hit Squad arrested" thinking it was a joke.

Good article though. We had a MSgt in my ANG SF squadron do a TDY in support of border operations. Luckily he knows better, but in case you're not aware, USAF SF n00bs are known for wearing their "POLICE" shirts all around town. Hopefully Big Blue will put a stop to that.

Of course, you know that this is going to lead us to authorizing body armor in the cockpit and getting to throw grenade out the windows again, just like in the good ole' days.

Holy COW Dude. You gotta be kidding me?! I don't wear anything that says police unless Im on the clock. That is a serious safety issue that puts everyone around them in danger. Thats something the command needs to grab by the throat or they might see some Airmen on CNN pleaded for their lives. Im not saying anyone wearing a law enforcement related t-shirt is asking for it, but given the combination of a high and tight, decent shape, military/LE appearance on the border, and some counterintelligence figuring out who you are when they follow you back to base is a bad scenario.
I don't know that the cartels as a whole feel like taking on the US military, but getting a few junior members trying to make a name for themselves could really be dangerous, and an unarmed "POLICE OFFICER" might make for a target to hard to pass up. When I worked gangs, some of the most dangerous members were the ones trying to prove themselves to the vets.

^^ An even better reason to use CAP for those CN missions. Criminals are unlikely to suspect that us fat, grey-haired, donut eatin', s'member dudes are the CN pilots who are dogging them, no matter what we wear... It's the perfect cover!

Yeah, no kidding. Here at Lackland there are tons of SF tech schoolers wearing those t-shirts and hoodies everywhere they go. I know you saw them when you were here.

And I'll see them again when I'm there next month. I had no idea the AF allowed that crap until I got to Lackland. It should be a crime.
