Just checking to see if anyone else out there is using the P90X workout program. I realized recently that I was within 5 lbs of my max weight for Air Force unifrom wear. So I started going to the gym on base and ran across some folks using it. I ordered my own copy and I am starting on my 3rd week. I feel great and I can see a big difference already. Building muscle and losing weight is only part of the benefit. The program also has Yoga and a one hour stretching routine. I use to feel stiff and sore but now I wake up and am ready to go.

PT for seniors is ,of course, up to them but if anyone wants to give it a whirl, this is the program!!

Why do we have a size 58 in the uniform Size?, Why do we have the Golf Shirt in Size 3XL+? Why do we need 80 HP per aircrew? Why do we buy the seat belt extensions?

I am not FAT, I am PHAT

sorry I digress!!

I have had it now for over a year.  I used it pretty heavily when I was in the middle of my triathlon training last season.  I have used the yoga and stretching discs in the off season.  This is not for beginner people.  If the only thing you have been doing is 12oz curls for the past couple of years, you may want to start with something easier and move up to this program.

Reminds me of an exchange between two commanders I overheard:

"Just because they make that uniform in that size, does not mean you should wear it!"

Priceless.

I usually say the same thing but in the other direction. Spandex is a privilege, not a right.  ;D

Great, thanks for the image I have branded in my mind now.

Hmm...Spandex...uniforms.  Does spandex come in ultramarine blue?

Sounds like I have a proposal to write.  ;D

Has anyone here heard of BFS? Or Bigger Faster Stronger? I found this program to be easy and very good.

Nope. What is it?

I looked at some of the websites for P90X and it does look interesting.  It's a different take with their theory of "muscle confusion."

It's the program we use at our high school. It's a program where on mondays it might give you 10 10 10 fo your sets. Thats means lighter weights more reps. Or maybe 5 3 1. That means heavier weights less reps. It's a good workout plan.

So no BS on the p90X giving results???  I have been looking into it and just dont want to sink that kind of money into something that is a waste.  I have hit a plateau in PT for the past few years and the PT with the Army just isnt challenging me any more.  With no noticed on the APFT I can do 70 push ups in two minutes and 70 sit ups in the two minutes and well the run isnt so great but it usually passes with no warning of the test and no real time spent working out.

I will be in durka durkastan soon and would love to find something to do that I will come back and be all the eye candy the ladies will want  ;D ;D ;D

I have been running and doing a lot of cardio before, but with this program, it gives you all of what you need to get that "beach body". I am in my third week and have lost 5 lbs and 3 inches of my waist. With the muscle building, I am sure that I have lost more than five lbs in fat but traded some weight for muscle. I did the Kenpo portion this am and I had sweat running of my forehead and a soaked shirt. I believe in it 100% and I am just starting. I can't wait to see the full results after the 90 days with it is based on.

Do army PT for a year or so and a PT test is mostly muscle memory at that point.  I had a surprise pt test after Iraq and all I had done was the 12 oz curls.  70 push ups easy but I think I just passed my sit ups with 60 sit ups do to my "extra storage unit" for Adult beverages.  Once you get in the rhythm of the fat rolls sit ups are easy. 8)

My buddy who runs a martial arts school picked up a copy to look at some of the exercises for ideas.  He tried them out and thinks they have some great exercises.  That was enough validation for me.
