Peanut Butter in Emergency Food Packs Tainted

Heard in news broadcast over car radio that the PEANUT BUTTER in the
disaster food packs(I don't know what kind of food packs were distributed)
distributed to Kentucky residents may be contaminated with salmonella.
The peanut used is part of the nation wide recall of tainted peanut butter.
That is all the info that the story stated.  I bring this up to share with the
residents and first responders that may have peanut butter packets from
those missions.   It would be best to throw the peanut butter packets
away.   The news story did not say what kind of food packs were distributed.  I am not going to speculate so rumors don't get started.
ONLY THE PEANUT BUTTER is tainted.

I would think we need to know what food pack...who manufactured them and what lot number.

I think this may be an urban myth that is attached to the real tainted peanut butter.

Its not an urban legend, at least not FEMA's concern.

The local KY news was broadcasting the FEMA warning, and last Thursday a helo made a special stop
at the ops center to drop off FEMA leaflets to the Army and us to hand out.  Word was the distribution center where we had a team gave out something like 30,000 food packs (of some kind) alone.

Note: What we were told was that this does not effect MRE's, only commercial / civilian ration packs, however don't take my word for it on that.

Even if they were, in this case, it would only be the peanut butter in them, not the other parts...
