CAP involvment at the Inauguration

Just wondering whether or not CAP resources were being used to cover for either Obama's train ride from Philly to DC or for the Inauguration itself.

Anybody from the East Coast know anything?

Have not heard anything. With the amount of military, local and federal police in the area I don't think there would be any need for CAP.

I'm in FL but have noticed a huge increase in activity with our ANG fighters heading out over the ocean. For the past 3 days there has been a constant roar of F-15s into evening hours. Related or not to the inauguration, it has caught my attention.

When I was in DC wing I remember us doing something, but forgot what. Perhaps something with comms, but this was all pre-9/11.

Perhaps an Honor Guard Detachment, somewhere... other than that... NO.

The Secret Service and other law enforcement organizations have it covered.

From the article, it sounds like there may be a couple representatives from CAP on scene in case they are needed but not that we really have a mission.

It says Communications support, but I can assure you everything they are doing will be encrypted. Last I checked, CAP isnt.

I saw the same thing as Robert. A couple of senior members "standing by to stand by".

However, it is still a role.

CAP upped our Communications Alert Level for the day. A lot of us went and and sat in the shacks all day and ran nets and regular confidence checks.

With the success of the RNC and DNC support that Civil Air Patrol gave, I wouldn't doubt that we were asked to participate in either a functional or ceremonial role.

It's just nice to be recognized, utilized, and appreciated as an organization.
