I guess that the only way that an individuals could donate to CAP, buying from one of those merchants  ???  Perhaps I'm missing something  ???

Frankly, again with our upcoming "unqualified audit" (due to the Wing Banker's Program implementation) wouldn't you think that that portion of the web page could be updated to indicate that and also make a statement that under the appropriate IRS rules CAP is a non profit org etc.  Than perhaps a statement to indicate that CAP operates primarily in communities and that  CAP HQ as well as, Regions, Wings, Groups,  & individual squadrons can also accept donations (monetary or "in kind" goods (supplies, equipment, clothing, etc) that assist CAP in meeting its' objectives and perhaps cross reference back to http://cap.findlocation.com/ for the unit closest to the individual who wants to contribute to.

Real non-profit organizations have an online donation center where individuals can make pledges and monetary contributions.  Since CAP is a standard 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the donations would be tax-deductible as allowed by law.

Real non-profit organizations make it easy to specify how your donation is to be used... unrestricted donations, or allow you to designate a specific unit or program (often with things like drop-down menus or checkboxes) within the national organization.  Restricted donations have to be honored.  So if I give CAP a $10 check restricted for use on printing cadet-related materials, it has to be used on that.

Real non-profit organizations make it easy for you to give cash -- a "donate now" button gladly accepts your credit card number.   I happen to manage the online donation center (among a million other things) for the non-profit I work for.  We're a small (in comparison of geographic scope) non-profit in one county in New York and we pull in thousands of dollars a year through our online donation form and with some targeted emails.

But as we know, CAP doesn't behave like a normal and responsible non-profit at the national level and so we miss out on LOTS of opportunities to advance our organization and mission.

You guys are absolutely right.  However, I have a feeling this will be corrected soon

What makes you think that?

I have thought it odd that the link was labeled "donations" when there is no way given to make a donation directly to CAP.  At the minimum, they could have a paragraph saying "send your checks payable to CAP to...."
