I forget what kind of calendar we use in these modern days, but I heard that when the calendar was written (when that was I don't know) it was only written to the year 2012. What happens then? New kind of calendar?

Actually, it was the Mayan calendar that runs out IIRC on 20 Dec 2012.  Some are saying that they predicted the Second Coming for that date.  Personally, I think they just got tired of beating on a piece of rock and figured that getting about 1800 years ahead was plenty.
