I have to put together a "Secret Santa List" and really hadn't given it a minutes thought.

So I figured some CAP toys I would otherwise not buy might be a good idea.

First on the list is a Stanley FuBar:  http://www.toolbarn.com/product/stanley/55-099/

Anyone have an opinion or a better tool for "breakin' stuff"? (in the same general price range)

How about other CAP-type toys in the $30-50 range.

Looks like a nice axe, but doesn't really fit my need for "breakin' stuff", also, in the context of "Secret Santa" easy retail availability is actually a plus.

in the way of crash axes, I would prefer this one...much more suited to the idea of breaking stuff....I carry the original military version on my fire gear, but did keep it in my CAP pack for sometime......

There are some really cool ideas on here

This is really sad by the way, a board full of GQ's can't come up with 25 pages of cool ideas.

Since I'm the only one I know that loves gear and accessories, they'll only be gifts to myself. Haha.  I'm trying to find an LED headlamp that has both white and red LEDs for use in the cockpit.  If I find a good one, I'll post it here.

Thing is that we don't really need to carry anything to destroy/take stuff apart with.  If you live in hurricane county I could see a use for a FUBAR or crowbar in disaster response.  A FUBAR is pretty heavy, even for the small one, I wouldn't want to carry it on a SAR mission.  I've found that planes, even when they crash lightly, tend to open themselves up.  That said, I do have to admit that I like the FUBAR and will probably get one for my disaster response gear.

It's really simple but I carry a pair of pruners on searches.  You can get a good set cheap.  I have a set made by Gerber that came with a belt pouch.  It has come in pretty handy when I run into really thick thorn bushes.

You can pick up some at Walmart made by Energizer.  The only disadvantage is that you need to cycle through the lights.  So to get to red, you turn on the white, then click again to get red.  I used mine a few weeks ago and it held up well.  It was on for a good 20 hours and the batteries are still good.

This may work: Petzl e+LITE Headlamp

It's light and made by Petzl so it's gonna be good quality.

The petzel eLite is GREAT.  High and low beam red/white.  And also strobe feature.  Clips on or has band.  Small compact case.  Great run time on batts.  Love mine gonna buy two more soon.

If you live in an area where it snows in the winter time, ice cleats are sometimes nice to have for when you have to traverse icy terrain.

They also make a great gift idea because people generally don't know how great they work until someone buys them a pair.  ;)

Actually, I'd also recommend the Tactikka Plus, also by Petzl. Sure, it's a little more expensive than the E-lite, but it's what I use for flying and for UDF stuff. Comes in awfully handy.

Rise, RISE!  Thread come ALIVE!

I ultimately received, and subsequently misplaced (purloined possibly) my Fubar.  I used the heck out of that thing on a lot of demo work and used to carry it in my truck all the time.  It walked or got left somewhere (as these things do).

Anyway, what's the hot tool these days for breakin' stuff?  Dad's day and Birthday are coming up, and the family is always looking for something in the $25 range, or places they can throw gift cards.

As always, the more Tactikewl, the better!
