Okay, you Majors and above, now is your chance to apply for the member-at-large position on the Board of Governors.  The announcement is up on eservices now.

Minimum qualifications:
Senior member in good standing
CAP grade of major or above
Earned the Paul E. Garber Award (Level IV)
Have at least 5 years Civil Air Patrol membership

Now, I am willing to bet good money that no Major or Lt. Col. will ever actually be selected for this position and that it will always be held by a Colonel or General (as we continue to accumulate former National Commanders and National Vice Commanders in those ranks).

But, if you've got some free time, it might be fun to send in a resume anyway.

Smokey

I'm not willing to make that bet.....If anyone really thinks like RiveAux said that anyone lower than a full bird col or general will get it is dreaming.  The little folk will not be chosen.   I'd bet though at least one former two star will not be putting in his application >:D    Although I'm sure he would love to!!!
If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything.
To err is human, to blame someone else shows good management skills.

Minimum qualifications:
Senior member in good standing -- check
CAP grade of major or above -- check
Earned the Paul E. Garber Award (Level IV) -- not yet
Have at least 5 years Civil Air Patrol membership -- 25 in 2009.

Bet they won't let me slide on the Level IV thing.

Somehow I tend to believe you'll never see a set of oak leaves on the Board of Governors. Sneaking suspiction, I guess....

No one below the grade of Col has ever been appointed to the BofG and I doubt that it will ever happen.

A woman had never been appointed Nat/CC

A non-white male has never been elected president

A female was never in the line of succession.

We are in a state of change from the bottom up.  Never say never, someone with sufficent qualifications could easily be elected to BOG without chickens or stars

If you don't try the answer will always be "No".

Well, to be fair we haven't had a BoG all that long so the history we're drawing from is pretty slim.

A female was never in the line of succession.

Just to be needlessly technical, Nancy Pelosi is currently next in line after Cheney, and Condoleeza Rice is 4th after Robert Byrd. :)

Just to be needlessly technical

Mary Peters, SecDOT, is 12th in line.

Elizabeth Dole, SecDOT February 7, 1983 - September 30, 1987, was also in the line of succession.

OK, how about the CAP line of succession?  ;D

FWIW, the first female in the line of succession was Frances Perkins. She was appointed Secretary of Labor by FDR back in 1932. She served in that position thru all 4 FDR terms.
