With hurricane Dolly approaching quickly I just wanted to send out a bit of luck and well wishes to our fellow CAP members in the path.

Thank you.

Brownsville stands to take some damage, we are getting rain and unstable skies (tornados), once all this passed and our affairs are in order...the recovery can begin.

I'm not yet, in the thick of it.  I did see several charter bus convoys heading north yesterday.  Likely the Rio Grande Valley may take soem damage, the resst of us more mild and likely operate shelters for those taking refuge.

CAP-Talkers;
Joe "Sparky", Maj. Corrales is probably rather busy with Dolly coming on shore today. He's been working double hard to get the Corpus Squadron up to speed. Let's wish him luck on this "test day." God Bless you Sparky. Let us know if we can help.

Thank you everyone...again.  I also would like wish the best of wishes to the Brownsville Composite, McAllen Composite and Mid-Valley Senior Squadrons.

I live in Premont, Texas, some 70 miles South of Corpus Christi and 80 miles North of McAllen, Texas.  Things are relatively clam here, some brisk winds and steady rain.  We have electricity, internet and Cell Phones, we are preparing (we've made a considerable among to beef jerky, water and other food items are in storage.)

I'm making an "area" weather report to Group V at 1500 hes today.  I will post it here as well, if able.

This is a report on the situation in the Corpus Christi/Coastal bend Area as of 1500L hrs.

Rain continues to come in "squalls,"  with gust of wind that are intensifying only gradually.  The biggest give issue will be flooding of local streets, roads and a few key Highways.  US 77 north of Kingsville and several sections south have been know to flood with sustained rains.  US 281 south of Falfurrias also is know to flood.   All these routes are currently open.

Reports from across the Coastal Bend indicated severely unstable weather with conditions favorable for tornadic activity.  Reports of funnel clouds were reported in Downtown Corpus Christi, Texas as well as out by Corpus Christi International.  Several Funnel cloud were reported between Falfurrias, Texas and Alice, Texas in the more remote areas, specifically mentioned is a small farming community called Rios, Texas some 10-15 miles from this position.

The darks cloud loom on the horizon to the Northwest going at unusually fast speeds.  This is consistant with the reported activity in that area.

Capt Sandra Phelps, who was originally scheduled for surgery yesterday has had that cancelled.  She reports some minor water damage at CAP Station Corpus Christi from leaks.  This will b reported to signature flight support.

Brownsville reported in, via Major Juan Arredondo, that they has been without power since 0600L hrs and that winds were holding at some 60 miles per hour.  Cell Phone Communication was still up and Major Arredondo was in communication with several CAP Officers, including Major Sean Crandall, via VHF Radios secured at their homes.  Major Arredondo reported that the CAP Van being secured at his homes is holding up.

Currently, things are tense here are information from police scanners and word of mouth points to a good deal of tornadic activity.  We still have power, cell phone, land lines, cable television and internet.

Maj. Corrales;
Hang in there Sparky. You're in a land where drainage needs a hard shots of sun and you'll have days of run-off from the deluge dropping west of you now. I hope the Kingsville Whataburger survives... nice people run it. Tornadoes in Corpus are a predicament -- run for the flooded basement and drown or face the monster above ground and face on. Good luck to all. With regards; Ed O'Brien
