I know that there are several commercial SAR-focused video games out there, but has anyone ever seen anything that would be more of a SAR mission planning simulator?   Either for air or ground SAR?

I have never even seen a SAR game much less a sar planning one. Could you give me an example?

Can't think of a title, but I've seen several that were basically helicopter-based first-person type games.

Okay and what your looking for is a game where you plan stuff out right?

Yes.

Oh, yes, I've seen an ELT simulator game as well.

I used to have that ELT simulator on my old computer.  I'm trying to see if I can find a link for it.

Also, the Abacus CAP add-on isn't all that bad.  If you know what you're doing, and if you already have MS Flight Sim, it can be worth the buy.

That was fun.  I think I'll e-mail it to some of the newer ground team members to help them get a feel for the L-Per in ideal conditions.  It's not exactly suited to ground teams, but it operates on the same principles.

I just got a really good idea I think.  A FLM sim using Wii.

Jolt

You could do a lot of things with Wii.

A member of our squadron is working on a realistic Ground Team DF simulator, complete with varying terrain, signal bouncing, interference, etc.

It will be a while before he will be finished, but it is moving along quite well, and what he has so far is quite impressive.

Not quite SAR, but in the same vein is Incident Commander available from the Department of Justice at www.incidentcommander.com
