Fifinella

It is with mixed emotions that I report that I have been accepted to Graduate School in the UK, (United Kingdom, NOT Ultimate Kirt) and I will be leaving in Sept. for Birmingham, England to pursue a degree in International Security Studies.  I am excited about my studies :D, but it will be hard for me to leave the squadron :'(.

My squadron change of command ceremony is scheduled for 7 Jul at Barksdale AFB.  Mamadinos will be accepting command.  Any CAPTalkers welcome.

I am still scraping together the money for school, but I have received one scholarship: http://www.afa.org/media/press/AFExcel_wnrs.asp

And so a new chapter in the adventure begins...

I'm sure you'll have a jolly good time.  England is one of my favourite countries to visit!

Be sure to raise an imperial pint in our honour, as we will for you, and let us know when you get your overseas squadron charter established so we can join your unit there.   ;D 8)

I wish CAP was set up like the RAFVR (T)
they issue the adults a real military commission.

I'd bet it's some sort of parachuting association.

Having read Judy's short bio in the scholarship news clip, I am continually amazed at the caliber of members we are privileged to have among us.  Best of Luck, Judy, and remember, we are all here and will do everything we can do to help you, including keeping you and yours in our prayers.

Thanks, y'all.

Wow, I may never come back.  RAF Air cadets get to parachute!  And their officers get commissions.
(Of course, I AM a Yank, so I don't know if I could accept/be eligible for such.)

Yes, I am currently investigating how I may affiliate with the Air Cadets.  I'll let y'all know how it goes.  I am pursuing the "foreign exchange officer" angle.

It will be interesting to compare the two organizations.

Sadly, Fifinella has never developed a taste for beer.  More of a German wine gal.  (Though Bailey's is quite tasty...)

I shall comprise the UK flight of the Barksdale Composite Squadron, and visitors are always welcome to my meetings.  :D ;)

Thanks for the support, and come visit!

Seems like the Brits have a better Cadet Program over there.

Anyway.....good luck Judy!  The UK is awesome, and you are so close to European Vacation Destinations.  A "European Vacation, National Lampoons" style would be fun!
What's up monkeys?

Same here.  First born American from a German family (dad's birth certificate is in German and has a swastika on it), yet I can't stand beer.  Everything else, cool.

UK is jealous of the UK.  I may have to stop by on my way home from TX next month  :-*
