It is here once again, Flag day!  If you have one, put it out!

The significance of June 14, 1777 anyone?  Answere is below!

On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress approved the design of a national flag.

I'd like to know how many people knew that.  And how many communities celebrate/commemorate Flag Day.

I live in Quincy, MA home of John Adams and John Quincy Adams.  We have a parade and fireworks display in honor of Flag Day.  We even have a float full of casket flags honoring all who served who are no longer with us whether they gave the ultimate sacrifice or were lucky enough to come home.

Sadly, I only knew it from studying for the AFIADL 00013 test.  So, I guess there really is a purpose for the test!

My flag is out today, as it is everyday, I just paid special attention to it.  I need a new one though.

Excellent post.  We have had our flag flying since early this morning.  I hope everyone will join in in showing honor to the nation's Colors.

^ Thank you.  I wish more people would fly our flag.

I had no clue whatsoever.  Thanks for the reminder.  I am putting one out right now.

June 14 is also the Army's birthday, June 14 1775.

I celebrate flag day because it's also my wife's birthday! If it weren't for flag day, I'd never remember her birthday!

That's similiar to my grandfather.  He always remembered my mother's birthday because it was June 7, a day later than the D-Day Anniversary.  He was part of the landing at Normandy that day.
