New MER/CC Announced

This just came across my e-mail box:

B/Gen. Courter, CAP Interim National Commander, has asked that I announce that Col. Joe Vazquez has been selected to be the new Middle East Region Commander.   His appointment will be for a full four-year term, effective today, Monday, May 19, 2008. I would like to thank you all for your support in my efforts as your Interim Commander.   I'm sure that you will give Col. Vazquez the same as he strives to move the Region forward! Charlie

He's an excellent officer.  He should have been the MER/CC already but he who will not be mentioned put a no-time-in-grade-no-time-in-service officer in there instead.  He's an old hand who knows operations (to include ES), the cadet program, and the people.  He's been a CC at squadron, group, wing, and region CV.  He's been on the national staff for a while as the ops advisor.
