Interesting. My in-laws were stationed there back about then, and my sweetie was born at the hospital there in 1956.

There have been questions for years about unusual deseases being found there. According to what I've found out there were dry cleaning chemicals leaching into the watertable for years and the Marines have finally opened the investigation. My daughter was born there and has come up with something called pilates tumors which may be a result of the water contamination.

Most Marines at some point in their enlistments/careers have passed through LeJeune: we are talking about ALOT of peoples.

Is that letter from a typewriter?

It *looks* like it was written in 1987 ... not 2008.

But that would mean a lot of Marines. Quite possibly the majority of the retirees and those headed there now.

It's actually a form letter I received last week. They've known about the problem for years and only now are they doing something about it.  As you can see it covers a span of 30 years. I assume they've gotten a new water supply since the end date is 21 years ago. I've sent copies of the letter to my son, daughter, and ex-wife to have them register in the database. If you know anyone who was stationed there or their dependents, let them know about this. Especially if they were pregnant or had small children.
