I was looking at the SQTRs from IC down to see what quals you have to have and I noticed that in the chain you need to be an AOBD. Ok, makes sense. What is a problem though is that to be AOBD you need to be a mission pilot. That would appear to rule out non-pilots from becoming ICs. But I know of at least 2 ICs that are not pilots. What's up with that? Note: I'm not questioning their quals because I consider them to be good friends, I'm just trying to figure this stuff out ahead of time.

Thanks,

No, you have to be a mission pilot OR a mission observer.

Reread the SQTR requirements, you can also be a MO for AOBD.

You can also take the route through GBD (but must have been a qual'ed scanner at some point).

Thanks,
The SQTR was a bit confusing because it looked like you needed both. Now I know.

It is clearer in 60-3.  I agree that the SQTR sheet is confusing and would give that impression.

As ive put together my staff school I have found out that the SQTR's often times do NOT match the requirments on line  :'(
