Well I have just about completed my joining of CAP, the commander sent in my papers this week. And now waiting for everything to clear. Looking forwards to being able to help out and be part of CAP.

I had been attending meetings at another CAP unit for a while in PA to see about joining then the commander of that unit said that this unit I am now joining was just starting up and they really needed people and could really use my skills so I moved to the new Squadron. I'm glad the commander told me about the new unit since now I get to work with everyone from the very start of the unit.

My tasks in the new unit once everything goes through at NAT, will be working with the computers and getting the systems setup and the web page for the unit running.

Do they have a plane there yet?

Not yet, they are working on it, I'll probably be doing some ADY work with them to help get them off the ground, they just started something like 2 months ago, maybe three but I think thats being generous.

I usually see membership apps show up in two weeks or less. Other stuff might take a little longer.

Welcome to both CAP and CapTalk.  I was a member of WV-049, Wheeling Composite Squadron- about 40 min away.  They have great people there.  Good luck.

We used to measure these things in geologic time, but processing has improved with the move towards electronic documents.

ok so he got my papers sent in last week so maybe not until the end of this week maybe. well I will just keep my fingers crossed and hope they get them done sometime soon.

you should at least be getting your temporary card soon

ISNJH

yeah but I heard I would not get sent that card until I had been added to units meber list  for PA I an joining  on the online site for my units members by NAT. once I have been approved I would then be sent a card in the mail.

But my commander said he has been checking the site and still no update of the number of members in his unit not even the other three he sent in.

Welcome to the family.

(Note to PA wing... He's in now, you can let the nerds out of the closet.)

Seriously, this organization is habit-forming.  We should have a warning label that says that.

Once your membership is processed, it goes into eServices (http://www.capnhq.gov/).  Then you should get a temporary card.  Shortly thereafter (after the fingerprint check is processed), you'll get a real membership card.  Then you should order one of the photo IDs as well, from eServices.  Two is even better, just in case.
