  I have a question.  Saying that CAP was started during war time, what would happen to our overseas squadrons if we ever again went to war with any of those countries that those squadrons are in?  Not that it will happen, and I pray it does not, but I was just wondering.  Just something that I have been thinking about for some time.

A mostly irrelevant question.  CAP Overseas Squadrons are all on U.S. Military Installations.  The DoD does not pick locations for permanent military bases in countries which we plan on having hostile relations.   And additional note, the CAP members there are Americans who are, for the most part, stationed there or family members of people stationed there - in other words, military families.  The military would thus cover taking care of them in any sort of conflict.   It would have nothing to do with CAP.

Actually, that DID happen.

When we went to war in Panama to capture Noriega, there was a Civil Air Patrol squadron at Fort Clayton.

And Pylon is right.  There was no effect on that cadet squadron.

In the event of hostilities overseas, dependents are evacuated.

It would be reasonable to assume that the squadron meeting would be canceled...

I think you are assigned to a unit from NHQ if you go overseas.

I know there is one in Germany, and a few in Japan.

There  are Overseas Squadrons in Italy, Ramstein Germany, Japan, Oknaawa (sp) And possibly one still in England. Years ago there was even an "overseas Squadron in Canada. If you are in the military and CAP and transferred overseas, your membership remains with your home Squadron, not NHQ.

Overseas squadrons were always cadet squadrons, direct-reporting to NHQ.  They wore the "Civil Air Patrol" World War II-type patch in lieu of a wing patch.  They were limited to US military bases and membership included military dependents.

We were certainly there, although I don't remember if LtCol Noyes (both of them) had started the unit prior to the invasion or not since us in the family arrived shortly after.  I want to say that they did.
