Can I get a few of you CAPTALKERS to share your written SQD SOP's with me (and everyone else)?  If you don't want to share where it is from, so be it......I don't mind missing names or places on things like these......easier for me to "steal".  Just Kidding.  I need to write a real good kick-but SOP and would like to see some others have put out.  Thanks!

Mike.

PS....PM me, I will give you my army or AF email if you need to send it that route, rather than post it here.  Thanks!

My squadron currently has two operating instructions:
01 - Designating the National publications webpage as the official sqdn pub set. Ditto with wing.
02 - Requiring athletic footwear for cadets taking the CPFT.

I'll post them when I get the electronic copies.

Operating Instruction (OI) is the term CAP wants us to use instead of SOP.

What's wrong with calling it an SOP?  just curious. . .

Quote from: CAPR 5-41. g. "Operating Instructions" announce local policies or procedures, and direct actions of a local nature within one unit (charter number) or office.

If you want it to be a valid CAP publication and make it stick, you should use the proper term/format.  Otherwise its not much more than a suggestion.

And don't start writing until you're sure that you can legally make a change / supplement to a regulation.  For instance, I have encountered several individuals who talk about their unit, group or wings changes/supplements to 52-16, but when you ask for the documentation from National approving their change/supplement you get the deer in the headlights look.

Check the preamble on the National Regulations first and you may save yourself some time and trouble.  FWIW, this is what 52-16 says:

This regulation defines the purposes of the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program and identifies policies that govern its administration. Supplements and waivers are not authorized, except as specifically noted, or when approved by National Headquarters.

Ditto on ES regs, the 60-series cannot be superseded unless NHQ approves - those approved supplements are then posted on the NHQ pages.

Why would you need a formal supplement to designate NHQ as the official forms / reg source? It already is that by design.

How's this?  Its for the CP though, not the whole squadron...

OK thanks.  The term "OI" was used at my encampment, but I've always heard "SOP" elsewhere, so thanks for the clarification.
