okay finally got our three new Navy Blue Tactical Caps set up!

Looks good.

I figured if I was going to have to cut the velcro off the front to trim it, why not just sew the grade directly to the hat?  Did the same with the name tape on the back.  It's not like I'm going to be getting promoted or changing my name any time soon.

Vanguard is is selling just a plain old dark blue ballcap.  I went to a local cap store, matched the color with a nametape, and sewed on name and rank.

Didn't have to pay FedEx shipping

I made one for me and one for my brother. Hand sewed the nametapes on the back and used a 2x2 velcro pad on front. It had an adhesive back but I sewed it on for extra support. Purchased the same velcro rank tabs that are for the fleece.

Since Vanguard doesn't sell this item yet, making it yourself is the only way to get it. The closest commercial version I could find had a 2x3 instead of 2x2, so it would have to be altered/trimmed back.

Personally I'm not a fan of the velcro nametape on the back as it is too wide. Instead I shortened the width of the nametape and sewed it directly without any velcro.

The rank square kinda looked a little weird to me but its grown on me. Now I think it looks pretty cool.  Im glad we've got this option now because I can wear it with the polo shirt.
