Sometimes it feels like my answer to this would be CAP.  However, I try to accomplish a balance between family and CAP that is not easily done, as I'm sure most of you will agree.  Bottom line is, I wouldn't be involved if I didn't love what I was doing.

I am very devoted to this program, and have had times where I spent more time during the week doing CAP than my actual paying job.  WIWAC, I was very heavily involved and spent sometimes 90-100hrs a week doing CAP related stuff.

I believe that if you don't have enough time to spend with your family, you probably shouldn't commit yourself to CAP as much.  Family first as I say.

I can tell you that I absolutely would not let this organization come between me and my wife.  As much as I love CAP, I love my wife more.  I guess it's a good thing she's a member too :)

Ditto.  Husband has grown tired of being a CAP-widower.  If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.  He became a member this month. ;D

Need more choices up in that poll.

I'll add my two cents to the 'CAP IS family' camp...

Stepson is C/SrA, wife just joined as CSM, daughter is 10 and will join in 16 months.  ;D

Are your work, home and CAP lives balanced ?

A few of us may have CAP the biggest part of our lives.  Works for them.  That's great.

In the year after my wife's death, CAP probably saved MY life.   Every weekend, there was something that helped me not be sitting in that big, empty house that was a museum to what I didn't have anymore.  I also spent too much time at work.
WE ARE HERE ON CAPTALK BECAUSE WE ALL CARE ABOUT THE PROGRAM. We may not always agree and we should not always agree.  One of our strengths as an organization is that we didn't all go to the same school, so we all know how to do something different and differently.
Since we all care about CAP, its members and our missions, sometimes our discussions will be animated, but they should always civil -- after all, it's in our name.

There have been several times in my life when CAP took a great deal of my free time....right now does not happen to be one of them....even then, I tried to keep a reasonable balance -- I've seen too many families split up over CAP.

The results of the poll so far are not a big surprise to me: pretty much what I would expect from the bunch on this blog.

I am almost retired from doing work that pays: do a little commercial flying from time to time.  Volunteer with the Sheriff's SAR team, fly for AngelFlight and am active in running the OV-1 Mohawk Assn, in addition to CAP.

Everything was pretty balanced until last Nov, when I became CDO for CAWG.  Now, I find myself spending 20-50 hours a week on CAP: mostly administering the CD program.  I have recently had the ARCHER program dumped into my lap and that is taking on a life of its own: much to my chagrin.

Oh well, keeps me off the mt roads in the CA Sierra Nevadas and in front of this computer.

That sounds painful. Was your wife very supportive of you? >:D

Most free time consuming was CAP as SER ITO & Webmaster in the past. I am stepping down from that job as soon as my replacement arrives.

The free time consumer is now 3rd Inf Bde ALSDF. I am organizing a communications unit that will be entirely manned by ALSDF who are licensed amateur radio operators. There is a lot of ops training in addition to the FCC licensing. The unit will be platoon size.

The largest user of my free time is CAPTalk and CadetStuff.  How come those options aren't in the poll?

RogueLeader

I classify that as CAP related, and thus falls under CAP.
