Our flight just recently gained a third flight and I am the flight sergeant. Plus, we lost our Cadet Commander. How do I position myself and who do I position myself off of?? Another added question hahaha. I have seen many flight sergeants do POST differently. How is it supposed to be done correctly. If you have any resources that would be very much appreciated because I can't seem to find anything I need in the drill manual. They need to make one specifically for flight sergeant newbies for questions like these.

The flight sergeant is positioned centered on his/her flight 3 paces between first element. (see figure 5-1)

On the command of post....the flight sergeant performs an about face then moves by the most direct route to his position to the left of the last individual in the last element. (see para 5.3.5. and Fig 5-2)

I'm lost. Your flight just added a third flight? And you're "the flight sergeant?" But, flight sergeant of what? The flight, or if one of the three flights?

Always remember to look for AF manuals in addition to CAP's manuals, just for future reference.

If you go to encampment, you'll also see how the staff there does POST.

"...moves by the most direct route ..." - That's a straight line from where you were (in front of the flight) to where you are going. Not a Left Face, n steps forward, doing a Left Flank (or even worse, Halt. Left Face. Forward, March) and continue to the last element..

Not always the case, but I've seen Encampments get lots of drill items wrong especially when you have multiple cadre members giving input like "thats how we do it at my unit." It usually takes several evening formations before they start getting mass formation procedures down. As you said, always review the book beforehand so you can confidently teach it to both students and fellow cadre.
