I've seen some references to National and Wing IT Committees. Where would I find the minutes for these meetings?

Are there any that exist at a level lower than wing?

Is completing my Senior rating in the IT track a good time to start getting involved with these committees?

The committees are staffed by people in IT duty positions. Your wing IT committee should be staffed by unit/group IT people, your region committee by the wing directors of IT, and then national is made up of the region IT folk.

I don't recall ever seeing posted minutes from the national committee.

SWR has a region level IT committee that I formed last year. It is comprised of the Wing IT Directors for each of the wings in SWR as well as a few members of the National IT Committee and one or two other people. The National IT Committee currently has more than just region IT staff on it. In the case of SWR, while we have representatives, I am not one of them nor is my assistant.

Our committee doesn't currently post minutes. Mainly the intent of our committee is to help each other out with issues each of the IT Directors are encountering as well as pass information up to and down from the National IT Committee.

Getting minutes from the National IT Committee was somewhat...difficult. I had to send a series of emails over weeks to finally get authorization for the notes they have to be passed to me and then for me to pass them on to my committee. I'm not sure if you would need to go through the same hoops or if they have become more readily available since. Either way, I am not aware of an area that the notes are posted to.

Honestly in my opinion, if you have IT knowledge that would be of benefit to the committee at the level you are pursuing, I wouldn't let your track rating stop you from asking to participate. There are people on my committee that only have a Tech rating, but have been in the IT industry for decades. Their overall IT knowledge is of more use to me and the committee than their track rating.
