Capt. Matt Scherzi of Group 7 in California

I am saddened and devastated to learn last night that Capt. Matt Scherzi of Group 7 in California has passed away from a heart attack on August 17, 2011. We have been wonderful friends for a long time and, unfortunately, lost contact with each other when I became extremely ill.

If anyone has any further information, I would be so grateful if you would reply to my post or email me at kimoyos@yahoo.com. Thank you !!

Wasn't he a poster on here? The name sounds familiar.

Yes, he was. Before I became sick, his meetings were held at the Fullerton Airport in California. I don't know if the location has since changed.

Thank you so much. Matt was my neighbor and I was a single mom with 2 young daughters at the time [21 years ago]. He always watched out for us. Those who knows Matt, knew you had a friend for life. He passed away [I found out by searching his name on the internet] the day before my grandson was born.

Does anyone have a photo of him? I believe I knew him. Not well.. but pretty sure. I was in that area for several years

I'm going through my emails from him and will go through my photos. He was also involved with Pre-Paid Legal. He was tall, had close~shaved beard, no mustache, and short hair. He had a lot of problems with his back. If any of that helps while we find a photo.

Does anyone from CA Wing have a copy of their older Bear Facts ?? The article on Capt. Matt Scherzi is right across from the one on C/CMst. Matthew Shope.

With tears flowing as I read about Matt, a heartfelt thank you for sending the link. You have no idea how much that means to me and my daughters, who grew up knowing Matt since they were 3 and 7. Many fond and wonderful memories forever treasured. Thank you.
