James Shaw

Well folks I have decided to cross to the dark side of Civil Air Patrol leadership again. I applied for and was selected as Deputy Commander for Group 3 in Georgia Wing. The groups were recently realigned which made all the Squadrons about 1 1/2 hours apart.

Looking forward to a new chapter in my Civil Air Patrol journey.

Jim, Congratulations.  I have known you since you were a mere Captain, wearing CAP Uniforms from the past, at the Conference in Atlanta, years ago.  (you know, the one, they wouldn't let HWSRN attend).  You are a most excellent officer and will do very well.  I am glad the misses agreed to let you out of the house..  Thank you for all you have done for CAP on the history and lower levels.  Looking forward to seeing you around Georgia at the classes and Conferences.

When I was the Deputy Commander of a group, I thought that's where all the **** details were placed, then I became the Wing CoS...

You going to SER Conference next month?

Not planning on it. I haven't been to one in several years. Saving my "CAP time" for taking a week of vacation to go to GAWG Encampment as Safety Officer. I am also teaching a TLC in late June and my wife may reach her CAP limit if I do conf as well. Perhaps next year. Thanks for asking.

Be careful...I was a Group/CD once.  Then one day in 2012 the "Deputy" part somehow went away...
Of course my deputy had a different fate but that's a fairly intense wing staff job, so I guess it's a case of pick your poison!  >:D

All joking aside, congrats!
