I can find squadron lists, region lists, wing lists, but finding information on groups so far is elusive. Is a list maintained of groups?

JeffDG

The Organization table in CAPWATCH includes all units, including Group HQs.

I can tell you GAWG just went through a reorg recently, and there are some new groups and some shuffling around of units between the groups as other units were created/consolidated or eliminated.
Still a major after all these years.

Excellent. I need to remember to look in there before asking questions like this...

You might not be able to find groups in WAWG, since the groups were disbanded over 8 years ago, under Col Maxwell.

I don't think South Carolina has groups either.

Here are the states with groups, along with how many they have:

AZ   3
CA   8
CO   3
CT   2
FL   6
GA   6
IL   5
IN   4
MD   3
MI   8
MN   4
MO   4
NC   5
NHQ   3
NJ   3
NM   1
NY   9
OH   6
PA   6
PR   8
TN   4
TX   7
VA   4
WA   5
WI   6

Anyone from NM care to opine on why you would have 1 group?  Span of control doesn't make a lot of sense with just one.

Eeyore

I may be completely making this up, but I seem to recall that NM has a group set aside for it's school based units.

That would explain the presence of 1 and only one group.

I stand corrected apparently Groups where brought back to wing in October of 2014.

Kentucky used to have groups but disbanded them for whatever reason. WIWAC there back in the day, the group structure there worked great. I wonder what, or who, happened.

Any units close? Might have been able to justify the span of control.

Wing wide, Im not sure. I know that in my group (NKY V), we actually added at least three squadrons that I remember, and one massive squadron split into four. Of those four two are left. Sad.
