This morning I got a "Forbidden" message trying to look at capmembers.com; now I'm in, but moving like molasses in winter. Is the site crumping?

Very slow response.

Someone must have kicked it over under their desk, or maybe they are catching up on their
Netflix queue at Maxwell.

Folks in CP are watching "Twelve o'Clock High" while the AE folks are streaming their annual viewing of "From the Earth to the Moon".

Just wait your turn.

I remember seeing it as a kid with the parents. It made an impact. Definitely not a feel good, happy ending, sort of cadet movie.

I watched it a number of times. The redeeming qualities are so few, I can't honestly say it's a good movie. An example of what is bad, if anything.

What a terrible movie..

Although the casting director was able to find a fairly promising crop of newcomers, some of whom seem to have done OK.

But the (below average) move was based on an excellent book:  Father Sky by Devery Freeman.

Strongly recommended.

Artistically,  I couldn't say. Maybe it has redeeming value as a teaching tool for ML or ethics of followings unpopular or unjust orders. Though I.doubt it would be approved for showing to cadets for the violence.

All of them from the "Good" cadets, to the "bad" and "in the middle", even those we're supposed to feel for, made terrible choices.

Crikey. We had a (unofficial) squadron trip to the movies to see both Taps & Red Dawn WIWAC. What the heck has the world come to?

My predecessors all went to see Apocalypse Now as a squadron thing, too! Sheesh!

I remember group viewings as a cadet of those movies. But the culture we find ourselves in is different. The irony is that the same cadets today are exposed to a far greater level of violence and adult themes through video games than we ever were.

Years ago, my wife and I would take cadets from the squadron we were in and seeing these movies. Afterwards we would lead a discussion over pizza at the local pizzeria. We discussed leadership concepts, ethics, morals and just the cool flying sequences. Some of the best times as a senior leading cadets.

Even back in the day, somebody would get their nose out of joint if you suggested to go to a movie that might have been PG rated. So, we tended to get around that by not having any kind of an official function, and just hey, look at that, everybody showed up at the same theater at the same time. What a coincidence

Oddly enough, a group of fellow cadets and I showed up at the theater at the same time for Full Metal Jacket.

I was on active duty for that movie. We all walked out of the theater saying to our selves "boy, am I glad I didn't go in the Marine Corps"
