What type of award? CAP does have an awards program, so you don't need to invent your own.

Actually, I have a similar need.

We had an outside organization host one of our Aerospace Education event and even provided a nice donation (of equipment) to the Squadron. I would like to give them a Appreciation Certificate and would like to know where to find an official CAP one, if such exists. I cannot seem to find an appropriate one in e-services.

From CAPR 39-3:

53. Certificates of Appreciation.

a. National [CAP Certificate 36, Certificate of Appreciation (National Level)]. Awarded by the National Commander to both members and nonmembers of CAP in recognition of significant contributions to CAP on a national level. Subordinate commanders who feel that such recognition is justified for some deserving individual must request the certificate through channels to NHQ/PA. Since the certificate is intended to recognize national-level achievement, the request must fully justify why this certificate is merited in lieu of one of the local level certificates described below.

b. Region and Wing [CAP Certificate 38, Certificate of Appreciation (Region/Wing Level)]. Awarded by region and wing commanders to both members and nonmembers of CAP in recognition of significant contributions to CAP. Subordinate units desiring to have a wing or region commander issue a certificate to some deserving individual, rather than having a certificate issued by the local group or squadron commander, should make a request to the wing commander citing the circumstance(s) meriting wing or region commander recognition. Blank certificates may be requisitioned from National Headquarters at eServices, Material Orders.

c. Group and Squadron [CAP Certificate 35, Certificate of Appreciation (Unit Level)). Awarded by group and squadron commanders to both members and nonmembers of CAP in recognition of significant contributions to CAP. Blank certificates may be requisitioned from National Headquarters at eServices, Material Orders.

d. Chaplains. Awarded by National Headquarters to the CAP chaplain's church in appreciation of its contribution to the general welfare of the community and its service to the youth of the nation through the work of its chaplain. Upon request from a CAP chaplain, NHQ/HCA will forward the certificate to the designated church for presentation.

CAP has a number of certificates that can be ordered from NHQ.

Certificates of Appreciation can be generated as PDF documents in eServices using the CAP Certificates module and printed in nice paper/card stock, as appropriate. It only works for members of your own and subordinate units.

You can get around the CoA for your squadron by issuing it to yourself, then edit the name before generating the PDF and it will put in the name you type.

It does work to issue the award to a CAP member, open it in Adobe Pro, then edit and print. I have found however that only my Adobe Pro (got it low cost as a Yale Professor) mucho expensive version can edit it, and even then it is unstable. E services seems to have designed it NOT to be edited, and you run into huge problems in regions like New England just trying to generate CLC or TLC certificates to a guy who drove 10 miles from Springfield to go to the conference in Windsor Locks - Bradley Airport.

I've had great luck in generating a certificate with the on-line utility,  then using adobe (not reader) saving the pdf as rtf file.  once in rtf you can work with word.

Most CAP laptops have Acrobat Pro on them.  It's part of the base software load that NHQ licenses corporate owned devices for.

Have you tried considering if that organization qualifies for the Aerospace Education EXcellence (AEX) Award?  You can contact national headquarters and they can give you more information.

MacGruff

Thanks to all for the answers. I was looking for the CAP Certificate 35 as stated in the quoted reg, but even though I am both the PDO and AEO for the Squadron, e-services does NOT have that in the Certificates area.

SARDOC - Thanks for your suggestion, I'll contact NHQ about an AEX one. I did not think of that...

AEX is awarded to units who participate in and complete a specific program, not an award per se.

Your Personnel Officer and Commander should have it, otherwise ask your Squadron WSA add it to your permissions.

Yes, it is a program provided you meet the requirements.  However, Outside organizations are eligible for the award.  National Headquarters has been giving these awards to schools and outside organizations that complete the requirements.  It's not just CAP units that are eligible.  With this you can also provide a teacher or other Mentor with an Aerospace Education Membership for them to accomplish the requirements set forth by the program.

I was requested by a staff member at NHQ to help develop a partnership with a local museum and they had a AFJROTC unit come on a field trip and they accomplished the activities set forth in the instruction...provided by National headquarters and I presented the Owner of the Museum with the AEX award and certificates to the AFJROTC Cadets.  It's a pretty good program and I think NHQ has latitude in defining the award.
