I'm still relatively new to CAP (just made 1st Lt) and I need to attend 2 conferences to make Capt.

The NER conference is in October and I'm signing up to go.  The problem is, I'm a little confused as to the schedule.  The conference runs from October 17th through the 19th.
Conference homepage: http://ctwg.cap.gov/2014-ctwg-ner-conference.html

Optional PD classes are held on the 17th, but I'm not sure which activities are on the 18th and which are on the 19th (if any).

This is the conference schedule: http://ctwg.cap.gov/ctwg-conference-schedule.html

I feel a little dumb here, but I'm having trouble deciphering this information (the NSA would never hire me).  Is everything done on Saturday and people leave Sunday morning?  Or are there meetings/conferences/trainings on Sunday as well?  I'm traveling from out of state so I'm just trying to figure out which nights I need a hotel room for.  If anyone has any insight, or can read the excel spreadsheet better than I can, I would appreciate the help.  Thank you!

Typically, though not always. Sometimes there will be wing/region commander's call Sunday morning, but there aren't typically general membership sessions. According to the link posted, the schedule isn't finalized, so I imagine there will be much better information coming out in the next few weeks. If you need information sooner, I would recommend contacting CTWG (I can't find a specific contact on the conference website to point you to, sorry.)

Generally at Wing or Region Conferences Friday evenings are for checking into the hotel and social events. The training sessions are on Saturday following the General Assembly and Awards ceremonies. That evening is the Banquet which is not mandatory. Sunday usually is a Region or Wing Commander(s) calls. If you are not attending the banquet or the Commanders Call, you can make a day trip out of this rather than paying for two nights at the hotel.

A check of the PD listing implies that the courses are on Friday. Best to contact the persons listed to get the details.

Thank you very much for the help.  For the regular training/conference what is typically worn for a uniform?  Full service uniform with coat?  Long sleeve/tie?  Short sleeve?

Wait, 2 conferences to make Capt? Did that just change?

SAREXinNY

I don't know how long it's been required, but for Level III:
Attend two wing, region, or national conferences. These conferences afford CAP members a broad view of the CAP corporation's organization and expose them to the issues confronting CAP. Attendance at a region/wing aerospace education conference can also be credited for one conference attendance. Conferences attended prior to entry into Level III count toward fulfillment of this requirement.

Right, and Level 3 isn't required until Major.

The current 50-17 says two conferences for Level III and Major.

There was a draft 35-5 (Promotions) to move some requirements down one level, but I think it may have been taken off the table for additional changes. The current version (1 JANUARY 2014) still has the same olde requirements.

That was about the time I got around to asking my CC if he would be OK with putting me in for promotion... Decided I'd like to not be set back another couple of years. Thought maybe the change went through after that.

The uniform for the conference (seminars) is usually any uniform other than BDUs and Flight suits.   That's what it is at the National Conference

SAREXinNY

Thank you everyone, I sincerely appreciate all of the help.

And yes, I misread the Regs.  I was thinking Level III was needed for Captain so I've been scrambling to get my two conferences in, CLC training, Senior CP rating, etc. when I literally have 3 more years to get that stuff checked off.  (I'm still attending the conference though).

Thank you all again for your help.

I just sent an email to a Wing staffer. I can't figure out the schedule either.

SAREXinNY

I also emailed the wing PD officer earlier tonight.  I hate to bother her but the registration form makes it sound like the TLC course I want to take runs Friday and Sunday but that isn't reflected in the excel spreadsheet schedule (or maybe it is and I'm just not reading it correctly?).  I just hate to spend an extra $118+ on an extra night if it's not needed.  I wish the information was a little clearer.

I'm told that the schedule is still a work in progress, but TLC is most likely Friday and Sunday. Other courses are Thursday and Friday.

I was planning on attending the IG course, but I'm not taking time off from work to do it. Maybe some other year.
