I saw the small diagram of the Squadron Flag. However, the print is so small it is hard to read. Can someone send me a larger size copy of the specs? I volunteered to make a flag for our new Squadron.
Thank you...

You're right that the CAPR 900-2 diagram is pretty low-resolution.  I haven't seen it elsewhere, but if you blow it up a bit, most of it is at least readable (see attached image).

Plus the written description gives some of the main measurements:
QuoteMade of ultramarine blue rayon banner cloth or heavyweight nylon measuring 3 feet hoist by 4 feet fly or 3 feet hoist by 5 feet, 8 3/8 inches fly and is trimmed on three sides with a 2 1/2 inch wide blue silk fringe. Cord and tassels of any color will not be used. In the center is the basic CAP insignia; above the insignia is a white scroll with the group or squadron designation in red letters, and below it are the words "Civil Air Patrol" in red letters on a white scroll (see Figure 10). All lettering will read from left to right. These flags will be displayed and carried with the US flag of equal or larger size. Units will use these flags on all ceremonial occasions. NOTE: Group or squadron designation should include full name and type of unit, i.e., "Maxwell Air Force Base Composite Squadron." However, unit names too long for the space allotted maybe shortened, i.e., "Maxwell AFB Comp Sq." Additionally, if abbreviations are required to shorten the name, only the following standard abbreviations for type of unit will be used: Comp Sq, Cdt Sq, Sr Sq, Gp.

Though buying from Vanguard is easier, I can understand that the $425 price tag is very prohibitive.

Thank you, I did see the same diagram. I have made two of the Squadron flags in the past; one squadron in Arizona, and one in Winston-Salem, NC. After we moved the pattern I created was lost, so I will have to start over. There used to be a diagram in an old manual that showed the flag and measurements almost "page" size. That made it much easier to create the pattern. How I wish I had kept that pattern!
Anyway, thanks again. I will work it out. It is easier to make the flag for around $20 to $30 dollars instead of over $400.

I had our squadron flag made when I was at Osan for $30. For $425 it would be cheaper to fly to Korea and have one made I think.

And the kicker is that Air Force Squadrons, Groups and even Wings don't have flags. They have a Guidon.
Where CAP ever got the idea that every unit needs a flag is beyond me. ::)

There's no way a home sewn flag is going to look right.  Just pass the hat and gets real one.

You have no way at all of knowing how well they can sew. They could be a professional tailor for all you know.

I have to disagree with you on this.  We have a new unit and one of our members made us a flag.  She utilized a purchased flag as her guide.  Her flag looked much better and was sewn with much more quality.  Plus she saved the new unit $450 and gave us something that we can be very proud of!

I am making a flag for a new squadron that is waiting for approval. I thought I read some place there are two types of fonts that can be used on the flag, however I can't find it now. does anyone know where I can find it? or what the fonts are?

Thank you for all your replies...I have already made 2 Squadron flags in the past, and they were very professionally done. ( No one has complained yet).  It is just hard for a new squadron to find that much money to buy a new flag.
