Anyone have any experience with these?

Supposedly they are issued to British Military, and filter about 1500 gallons a cartridge.  They aren't cheap by
a long shot, but as part of a survival kit, might be a good alternative for a family or team vs. carrying / storing water.

The thing is, its's purported to produce "sterile" water, and I don't see how that is possible without heating it.
Clearly this is a micro-micro-micro filter, that's why you need to pressurize the bottle, but sterile?

The Jerry cans look interesting, too.

Well, they do say, in typical legalese .. 99.99999%
.. and until scientists or anyone else proves otherwise, the claim of sterility in theory can be upheld.

Until they show that the smallest forms of whatever, are smaller than 15nm.

It's sterile mostly because appx. >99% of viruses and bacterium are over 15nm, with a notable exception being the Bamboo Mosaic Virus.. I don't think there's much Bamboo in the US.

Also, there's no bacteria in the actual water. Heating makes water sterile by killing said bacteria, while this just keeps it out. Noble idea, Very useful for its intended purpose.

Bamboo is very common in some areas of the country. I live in a rural county where corn and soybeans are abundant but there is a bamboo grove half a mile from me. It is probably not native but it does grow in many areas.

Eclipse.....Medically....or according to the on line medical dictionary.....Sterile means free of living microorganisms.....so if the filter is smaller then the smallest "microorganism" then it is sterile.

Think I'll stick with a Katadyn backpacking filter for $80.

~7 cents a gallon (For the humanitarian priced jerrycans) isn't a bad thing...
