LTGen Charles Krulak: "The Importance of Integrity, Loyalty, and Loyal Dissent" part 1  PArt 1

LTGen Charles Krulak: "The Importance of Integrity, Loyalty, and Loyal Dissent" part 2  Part 2

This is a video I found of a presentation by Gen Charles Krulak.  He was the Commandant of the Marine Corps when I was in. I had the pleasure of meeting him in the field.  If you have ever met him he is about 5' 5" tall and weighs about 140 lbs.  But the guy can command an audience like nobodies business.  Its about an hour, a little slow, but good.  Its not a powerful dramatic political speech full of useless lofty philosophy like we are all used to these days.  The man speaks non scripted from a real leaders perspective.

He is now the president of a college here in my city. I met him once as a LCpl and have gotten to talk to him a couple times since he's gotten here and remained impressed. Also he refused the first year's salary while he worked to improve the college.

I don't know if Chu Lai was named after anybody, but if it was it was named after his Father LTGEN Victor "Brute" Krulak who was the FMFPAC commander in the mid 60's. In 1968 it was assumed that he would be the next Commandant, but when he disagreed with some Vietnam policies, his name was witheld and GEN Chapman was appointed.

Yes, Gen Krulak named it after himself. Talk about humility!  Chu Lai was the Mandarin translation of Krulak.  So it is a place in Vietnam with a Chinese name that was named after an American.
