Looks like the "Find A Squadron Near You" on the website brings you to a new sub website http://hosted.where2getit.com/civilairpatrol/index.html which brings up a map where the unit is located and when the unit is clicked a window pops up so that the perspective member can place their location there to get a detail instruction on how to get to the unit.

HOWEVER, we found that for our unit, no matter what town or city or zip close to or at the squadron's location was placed the unit wasn't showing up in the results of the search. (Gee, I thought we had a pretty good meeting last week, wonder why we got deactivated :o ::) ;))   Further research found (via a complete state search) that the unit had been miscoded and was listed in some small town in the eastern part of the state.

Probably a good idea for all units to check the website to be sure that the units that are suppose to show up in a search are showing up :(

These should be based on zip code. If the zip code is incorrect, the admin officer or commander can update this in eServices Membership System Module/Org. Maintenance module.

Your problem is the leading zero on Westover's address, if searching by zipcode. The map software is ... ignoring the leading zero.  :o

As a PAO, you might especially be interested in contacting NHQ over concerns about that. After all, you want to get the word out that your unit is there, right?

I wish it would stop showing group units... I can't tell you how many potential members come to our meetings and ask about the "second unit in town" because it shows the group unit in the search (the group CC lives near us).

The IT Department at CAP National Headquarters corrected the coding error on Friday (7/13/2012).   Nice people to deal with.   They did mention that they were addressing these coding errors as they came up, so again might be a good idea for every unit PAO to be sure your unit is being found by the map search engine in the appropriate location.
