Proper BDU Fit?

Wondering if anyone has a link or picture to the proper fit of a BDU (especially for those of us that are on the CAP-distinctive side of the height/weight ratio  )?  I got my first set of Propper BBDUs last night, and the blouse seems much baggier than I was expecting (particularly around the sleeves and shoulders).  I know it won't fit like my 13 yo son's fit him, but I'm trying to figure out if I've ordered the wrong size, they're cut bigger in the size I ordered, or this is how they're supposed to fit.

While I am not sue how BBDU's are designed, I know BDU's are designed to fit baggier because they are a combat uniform mant to be wearable in all season, with thermals and undergarments providing extra warmth in the winter and fall.

Baggy is pretty much the look. Check the shoulder seams, and see where they hang. If they are right at bend in the shoulder, then it's the right size. If the seams hangs down onto the arm, you need to go down a size.

For the pants, if you're in the middle of the waist adjustment, that bit's good. I wear mine a little long so they blouse better, but if the bottom of the leg reached the heel of the boot, you're good.

Also, check the length... If the shirt falls just above the top of the trouser pockets, it is the right length.  If you can see the hip pockets, it is too short.  For the trousers a little bit long is generally better than a little short, if you will be wearing boots, and will be blousing them anyway.

Based on SarDragon's advice about the shoulder seams,  I'm guessing I got a size too big.  I placed another order for the next size down and will keep whichever ends up fitting  better.

The uniform you recieve all depends on what is closest to your size and avalible at the time. You can go and get them switched out at any time that your squadron allows. However sometimes they just dont have it. If you believe that they are way to big that you can go and buy smaller size. The extra uniform will come in handy at encampments and such. However if the uniform is extramily big that I would deffinatly go get one asap because it will hold a better public image and be easier to wear, then dont wear the large unifom except when the other one is not avalible.

Not all units issue field uniforms to their members.  Most, including cadets, purchase them from military or retail sources.

I agree with that.  Our squadron is running low on anything but odd sizes for regular woodland BDUs for the cadets.  There's definitely nothing in my sizes floating around. Especially since I'm the only current BBDU-wearer.

As an update to the thread (since I'm posting anyway). After trying both blouses, it seems, unfortunately that I'm currently between sizes.  The smaller fits perfect in the shoulders and chest, but is about 1/2" too small   otherwise.     The bigger is too big all the way around.  Sounds like a few PT nights are in the works to get down to the smaller blouse.

Maybe a tailor could help you in between your PT sessions?
