Something I was reminded of in reading that dispatch from NHQ yesterday - photos are now required for all members (as od 1/1/2012).

Because of encampments and mission work I have to poke around a lot of member files and it is shocking how many people don't have a photo
of any kind posted.

And because of the number of folks who don't yet have photos on file, NHQ will probably once again be implementing a series of endless extensions to the requirement.

This is good to know; thanks for posting it. I guess I should put a picture on soon, then.

Does your photo have to be of you in uniform? I know the requirements like blank background, shoulders and up, ect but I couldn't find anything on what you wear.

Eclipse

It does not have to be in uniform - just a 1"x1" (exactly) photo on a white background.

I'm wondering if someone already has a picture on another official document (e.g. driver's license, military ID card, school ID card) if they can just scan that document and edit out everything except the picture ???

If it meets the shoulder-up/white background requirement, sure why not?

Some of those documents have copy/scan printing that is invisible on the original, but shows up clearly on a copy or scan.

Seriously?

Just get someone with an iPhone at the next squadron meeting to take some pictures...this is not rocket surgery!

Talk about a pain in the rear end. With all that hassle it's easier just to snap another photo.

I don't know, DMV has some great photographers on staff.

I'm still on the "reasons a picture is rejected" examples!  I'm still famous! :)

Just Seniors as far as mandatory, though why we would not want photos of everyone is beyond me - it's not a
privacy issue, we know what they look like and require photos for anything that that uses a 31.

It was part of the August 2011 update of 39-2, and several messages were sent to the below effect quoted from KB #462

As of 1 January 2012, per the NEC, it will be mandatory for all CAP senior members to have a photo on file in eServices. Cadets over 18 without a photo will have their names printed on the cards in the same manner as non-photo membership cards, as their photo is optional. Members will be charged $3.00 each for duplicate or replacement cards, which can be ordered online via eServices or by calling Membership Services toll-free at 1-877-227-9142 Ext 202. New membership cards will no longer be distributed automatically when members are promoted or transfer units. The new gray CAP membership cards replace both the old blue CAP ID cards and the optional $4 photo ID cards, both of which are no longer available.

Who needs an iPhone? I just mashed my face onto the flat-plate scanner glass and pressed "Scan"!
