Sorry if this has been asked before but searching for BDU cutouts returns too many results. ha

I'm taking my BDUs in to get the ultramarine CAP cutouts sewn on... I know that there is 1/8th blue all around but I'm not how to explain to them exactly how to orient them.

39-1 isn't very specific in that regard..

any help would be appreciated. thanks.

1/8" blue border around the white.
1 inch from the front of the collar measured from the front of the collar to the white of the C or P (not the blue border)

The flat part of the C should be parallel with the front edge of the collar
And the flat part of the P on the other side.
And then centered vertically

Common mistake is to align the bottom of the CAP (imagine drawing a line under all 3 letters) and making that parallel with the bottom of the collar.  That is wrong.

Instead, that imaginary line you draw under the CAP should be perpendicular to the front of the collar.

There is  a picture in 39-1
page 100-102 and 104
some of those references are for cadet rank but they illustrate what you are supposed to do.
Look at the senior member colonel or the cadet captain or c/1st Lt as examples how to place your CAP

This is on the left collar only. The cutouts are read from the wearer's shoulder so the P is on the bottom on the right collar.

Yup. My bad. I don't feel very good right now and totally missed that. ;D
