Do the prereqs have to be signed off by someone with SET training in GMT3? Or can joe blow the es officer do it?

What reg are the tasks location in, I can seem to find it, and google only turns up SQTRs.

The prereqs. for GTM 3 for cadets are to have the Curry and GES. Neither of these items require a sign off.

Fam / Prep tasks require the person signing be an SET, and current and qualified in the specialty they are tasking.  The latest
revision of the 60-series requires the SET to have been qualified for a calendar year before they can begin tasking.

Further, some wings have a list of approved SET's.

The member's commander must also approve the prerequisites.

In short, contact YOUR ES Officer for proper details.

We don't have an ES officer.

I am the most ES qualified person in our squadron, and I only have MRO*....

Maybe I can get some stuff done at winter encampment...

Thanks SARDragon

Your Squadron Commander automatically fills every duty position in a squadron unless he has assigned another officer to the position.

Not necessarily.  ESO is not a required position, and absent command imperative, ES participation is not required for a squadron to pass a CI,
so it is possible and even fairly common for a unit not to have one, especially a struggling cadet-focused unit.

Sure the Commander may be the contact person in that regard, but he won't have any sign-off force-powers unless he is also a rated SET, and
if he's not invested in ES, he's not going to know anything to be able to help, regardless of his being penciled in on the flow chart or not.

However, few units are autonomous for ES ops, and most wings function with SETs and others who roam and a wing-wide basis for sign-offs, etc.
You should be able to find someone to help yo get where you want to be.

How would I get in contact with the Wing ES people?

FLWG is now offering signoffs at all wing activities, but they are done by Col. Cook, and I don't want to bother the wing commander...

Discuss the situation with your Commander and then send an email to the Wing ESO, cc'ing your commander.

If your wing has groups, then you should go to the Group ESO first.

How do I find out who the group ESO is? lol   >:D

I can't find it on their site... Or FLWG's site. ::) >:( :-[

The closest I can find is Director of Operations...

The Wing Director of ES position is vacant... according to http://flwg.us/emergencyservices.aspx

Presuming you've already discussed this with your commander, politely ask him for the information. While you might find someone here with the information, it is far more appropriate to use your chain of command. It's one reason it exists.

You can also possibly do task training with a neighbor unit or something like NESA, at least to get some initial qualifications going, and then train in house after that, if possible.

He was told to contact his ES Officer for details, not for sign-offs.  He replied he didn't have a ES Officer.  His Squadron Commander should still be able to provide him the details.

You do not have to be an ES Officer to be SET and achievement qualified.  The ES Officer is a squadron duty position and specialty track.  It really has nothing to do with your ES qualifications.  I earned most of my ES qualifications prior to entering the ES specialty track.
